Summer 2017 was a particularly exciting time at The Events Mill for it saw us producing events in some of the world’s most glorious locations. From the Cote D’Azur to the rolling hills of Oxfordshire, our team of expert party planners survived the heady excitement of formula 1, late summer nights perfect for corporate clients, and weddings that went above and beyond the normal call of design duty. It is only right that we share with you some of the glorious work produced for some of the coolest clients we’ve had the pleasure of planning for.
Picture this. Waddesdon Manor, Buckinghamshire – the glorious country estate owned by the Rothschild family – a haven of sublime natural beauty and the most idyllic setting for those exchanging nuptials. Honestly, if you haven’t been then put it on the bucket list of destinations to visit within the next year. Waddesdon Manor itself is elegant, stately but approachable, with the gardens and surrounding area bringing all sides of natural beauty in abundance. The estate at Waddesdon has a certain charm that is supported by heritage that spans hundreds of years, with touches of the Rothschild imprinted everywhere you look.
We were given the opportunity to work alongside a couple who had a passion for wine and an extraordinary understanding of its global appreciation. In short it was a dream to learn and be influenced by their knowledge and an experience we will never forget. The design for the wedding was a celebration of wine and their particular taste and history of culinary experiences that the couple have enjoyed together.
The Dairy at Waddesdon Manor was the perfect setting for our couple as it offered flexibility, spectacular views and all of the necessary practicalities to bring our vision to life. We utilised the courtyard, the West Hall, Riverside and Winter Garden. Guests entered into an elegant wine festival where they sipped Cremont and feasted on carved Jamon whilst listening to the mellow sounds of a classic Spanish guitar. This pre-drinks reception was incredibly elegant and a marvellous welcome for guests that as they enjoyed the gardens and bespoke pedestal boxed sun-umbrellas dressed with sweet peas and lavender.
It wouldn’t be right to divulge all of the intimate details of the wedding ceremony, but let’s just say that the lake behind The Dairy provided the perfect setting for our wonderful couple.
The design for the wedding breakfast was simple but effective. Using grapes, candles, and hydrangea we curated the dinner tables to appear elegant and sophisticated, but within the theme of wine. Uplighting in warm amber added a subtle pop of colour, without overwhelming the room.
The showstopper design piece was a treat for the senses. We channeled a Provencal style vineyard wedding and boy did we surprise ourselves. Holding his particular part of the design within The Winter Garden really helped, what with the interior design lending itself well to our needs, and we used the internal features and built outwards. Making use of long vines, grapes, foliage and deep coloured shrubs we installed an authentic vineyard that transported guests to the south of France. This exclusive design was curated and developed over many glasses of wine, with the final flourishes placed on site and in the moment. We certainly gave Anika Rice a run for her money. The finishes result was big, bold and beautiful.
Guests partied into the night and were completely surrounded by memories from the couples’ love story, whilst enjoying exquisite food and drink provided expertly by the food development team at Waddesdon Manor. It truly was a marvelous experience and one that will go in our hall of extraordinary events. We look forward to many more celebrations with this most glorious of venues.
