10 Movie Themed Party and Event Ideas

Movie themed party and event ideas – could there be anything more exciting?!!

There is nothing better than relaxing in front of one of your favourite movies, reading an exciting novel or taking a trip down memory lane and visiting a cherished travel destination. Exposure to pop culture, art and travel really influences our lives, hobbies and interests, which fundamentally shape the decisions we make. We may not notice it but everything we watch has some sort of imprint on our lives and these influences can be put to great use when planning a party.

As the decades go by, more and more film classics surface, becoming timeless in our repertoire of celebrated loves, from the likes of Back To The Future to Harry Potter and Thelma & Louise to Hook. Nowadays, the giants of the big screen push out so much content that we are overwhelmed with choice, but we each have our favourites whether it’s superheroes, magicians or the villains.

We can draw on these titles and find comfort knowing that they hold nostalgic value, but they can also be drawn upon as inspiration for our own celebrations when brought to life as live event experiences. These plots and visually stimulating narratives help us to create immersive experiences because they have a lingering presence in our minds. Furthermore, with the advances in costume design, prop making, graphics and food design, authenticity can be achieved so much more realistically and a theme can be upgraded to a full production.

So if you have a favourite movie and a love for partying then why not bring both together and create a physical interpretation of your chosen film whilst immersing your guests into the heart of the drama. Here are some unique ideas on how you can use movie classics to inspire your next private party or event.

Black Swan Themed Dinner

Black Swan, inspired by the 2010 mystery drama starring Natalie Portman, is a modern-day interpretation on the classic Swan Lake story. How to bring this to life as a magnificent, beautiful event? Well how about this: create a mystical lake using theatrically dressed staging and haze which frames a track system (like one of those slow rides you can sit on a Disney World) which is adorned with both white and black swan boats that guests can ride in.

Each boat would actually be a unique dining table boat which moves along and through the mystical environment as you witness beautiful ballerinas dance on the stage as your swan boat seemingly glides along the lake. Depending on the colour of your swan, white or black, will influence the the food journey you go on and the menu you are treated to – a fully immersive dining experience like no other!

A Nightmare on Elm Street Immersive Experience

This is one of the most terrifying horror movies produced by the legendary Wes Craven. This theme would only be suitable for those brave enough to enter the world of Freddy Krueger – a world of dreams, nightmares and harrowing creatures. This theme would be incredibly effective in a venue with exposed pipes, nooks and crannies and raw décor. Again, immersive event design would easily be achieved with a story so bold and terrifying as A Nightmare on Elm Street especially using character actors to add drama and tension. Be careful not to fall asleep! One, two, Freddy’s coming for you …
