About the agency

  • What does The Events Mill do?

In a nutshell, we specialise in designing beautiful, creative, luxury and immersive experiences in any destination across the world.

  • When was The Events Mill founded?

Back in 2013, The Events Mill was founded by Christopher Mills, to challenge the status quo and to provide the events industry with an alternative to the standard, traditional event planning experience. From day one we have championed a passion for immersive design and are now known as the specialist agency to call upon.

  • How big is your team?

We are a boutique event agency but we have global resource, so that we can deliver the most sought-after creative anywhere in the world, from London to the Great Wall of China.

Our design services are delivered by professionals across all disciplines, be it entertainment, food development, puppetry or logistics. We are able to open doors to palaces, bring famous faces to your dinner parties, or accompany you down the world’s deepest cave. Your way. The Events Mill way.

    The design departments

  • Where do you operate from?

We are a London based agency, but we are agile and reactive, so we travel with our clients and pop up on every continent.

  • What are your core design principles?

Any experience produced by The Events Mill is defined by our core design principles. This is not a house style but a system of ideas that is applied to each project, so that we remain authentic in our approach every time.

Craft. We deliver work at the very highest level of quality and work with exceptional craftspeople, specialists across the full spectrum of design.

Emotion. We pour ourselves, literally, into our work, to deliver unforgettable experiences. We strive to always create emotional attachments and to change worlds.

Provenance. Authenticity and believability are as important as excitement and joy, for history is there as the nucleus for ideas.

Collaboration. We are only as good as our team, and we champion diversity, collaboration and inclusivity at the heart of our work, which helps create harmony and fuels exciting theatre every time.

    Why The Events Mill

  • Who are your typical clients?

We typically work with luxury brands, private clients and organisations looking to explore the realm of extraordinary experiences.

  • What about confidentiality and client privacy?

The Events Mill operates with the utmost discretion. We build long-lasting relationships with our clients based on trust and openness. We have non-disclosure agreements in place with all suppliers, partners and across our teams.

Booking with The Events Mill guarantees a unique, high-impact experience with unforgettable memories, and it is our sole mission for you to enjoy this experience with full and entire trust.

Budgets, and what things cost

  • How expensive are you?

Our product is exceptional value for money but delivered at the very highest quality imaginable. We never compromise on quality and will always present the most engaging solutions for you, though we are committed to our core design principles.

You will find us realistic and transparent, and we will always extend the conversation to guide you on the best use of your investment. We are by no means the most expensive on the market.

How to budget for an immersive event

  • We don’t know what our budget is. Can you guide us?

Yes, absolutely, though realistically speaking we will never tell you what you should spend, because that decision must lie with you.

A better way of looking at budgeting is to consider this question: what don’t I want to spend? That can often be your ceiling to work from. We will always guide you, inspire you and bring ideas for you to consider, unless you tell us that there are absolutely no restrictions. In reality, there is ALWAYS a budget.

  • Do you have a minimum spend?

It depends on what you are asking us to make, and the honest answer is that we would rather talk it through than publish a number that fits nobody’s brief. Tell us what you have in mind and we will tell you straight away whether it is something we can do well at that level.

    Tell us the brief

  • Should I budget for a discovery call, or is it complimentary?

We offer a complimentary discovery call to all clients. It is important to us that you have the space and time to fully brief us, and for us to hear all about your dream experience. Take all the time you need.

    Book a discovery call

  • What is the pitch and confirmation process?

We embrace every opportunity awarded to us and love to pitch and tender for work.

At pitch stage you can expect a copy of our credentials, a creative overview document and suggested investment guidance. On confirmation you get a fully developed creative, and a planning and development plan.

How a project runs

  • Is there a set method that you work to?

No, although we work from the foundations upwards. Laying the foundations ensures a smooth and successful project, with every other creative flourishing above.

You are entirely in control, and we are here to guide and inspire. As each project is creatively unique, having solid foundations that are consistent ensures a full-proof delivery. You are in the hands of professionals with over forty years experience.

  • I’ve got a bit of an idea but I need help developing it. Can you help?

This is something we love to do with our clients, and an area we thrive in. If you have an inspiration, a thought or a dream, we will work with you to build upon this.

There are of course methods that can be deployed across the board that aid the transition from the initial idea, through the planning and into the delivery stages of a project. We are regularly asked these sorts of questions and enjoy learning from them, which ultimately enables us to aim bigger and to deliver greater things, time and time again.

What we do, and what we don’t

  • What are the main services?

Our services are entirely dependent on the brief we are working on, but we are a full agency with the capacity to deliver the full creative development, production and execution of each project we take on.

We are equally happy to fulfil one of those areas, should you just require creative, production services or planning support. Contact us to discuss your brief and we will tailor the solution to your requirements.

  • What design services do you offer?

Design really is our specialism, and our craftspeople are the technicians that bring our productions to life. We build each immersive world in very much the same way a theatrical production would be produced, with design services across the following: production workshop; lighting department; hair, make-up and wardrobe, including bespoke immersive event costumes; stage management; props department; stagecraft; audio, video and media; floral design and decor.

Discover the detail behind our design departments

  • Do you have a specialism?

Yes. We fit into the niche of immersive and multi-sensory design. We are known for highly creative, luxurious and detail-oriented work.

We work through a broad scope of design and bring together various services, bringing narratives to life and creating visual statements that impact all the sensory touch points. We are all about using the power of immersion to create lifechanging moments.

  • Is there anything you don’t do?

Yes, absolutely. We are a non-digital experience agency, which means that we cannot help with online conferences, hybrid events, data-driven work or digital campaigns. Our specialism lies in the old world of physical entertainment, person to person, real world and tactile.

Saying that, we appreciate the digital world and how ingenious technology is within design, so being able to incorporate aspects of digital mastery into our work is always exciting, such as drone, mapping and AI.

  • You say anything is possible. Is that true?

Absolutely, though we aren’t magicians and can only perform within the realms of what is humanly possible. As with most things in life, budget dictates possibility, and whilst creativity is often found in moments of ingenuity and brilliance, the wider your investment the greater and more unique your experience will be.

Food and The Events Meal

  • Do you provide your own catering?

Yes, we have a catering service called The Events Meal. This is an exclusive service where we partner with the world’s greatest chefs and restaurants who, together with our in-house planning team, produce their food on a grand scale within the context of an exclusive event experience.

You benefit from world-class food from both Michelin-starred and up-and-coming chefs, as well as exciting brands, with delivery The Events Mill way. Before this it was a challenge to bring a society cuisine restaurant to the party scene with elite delivery. It is now possible.

Where in the world

  • Which locations do you work in?

We work all over the world, in the greatest cities and the most remote corners of the globe, in deserts, rainforests, ancient heritage sites and in the extremes. If experience can be explored there, we can fix it so that you can go wandering.

    Destination events

  • What are your most popular locations?

This is entirely dependent on the type of experience we are planning and on our client’s dream. We could be working in the South of France in a chateau, or in Nevada producing an immersive design based on a spaceship that has landed in the desert, or celebrating a couple’s 50th wedding anniversary in the Orkney Islands over a multi-sensory gastronomic dining experience themed on their love of whisky.

The world is, literally, a playground with so many beautiful options.

  • Do you have preferred venues you work with?

We have a trusted network of venues we work with across the world and we are able to negotiate preferential rates on behalf of our clients.

We are also incredibly privileged to be preferred partners to many beautiful venues including Westminster Abbey, The Design Museum, Waddesdon Manor, The Langham Group, Hotel Cafe Royal and many more.

    Unique venues

  • Is there anywhere you don’t work?

Within the realms of physical possibility, we will make anything happen. What is most important is realistic expectation, aspiration and a budget that will open the doors to your dreams.

  • In terms of travel, concierge and logistics, what happens?

We offer a luxury concierge service to all clients whether at home or abroad. Whether your brief is to plan an event on an island in the Caribbean or to see the Northern Lights from an ice palace, we will take care of every logistical detail on your behalf.

From booking flights and reservations to access to the world’s most exclusive events, and making sure your guests arrive in style, we have every base covered.

What immersive actually means

  • What does multi-sensory actually mean?

We are doing our job right when you enter one of our worlds and every hair on your arms rises, or you get goose bumps as you traverse a gastronomic dining experience.

We seek the extraordinary, and experiences that change perceptions of what is possible. There is no trickery, just authentic brilliance. Our experiences celebrate the senses and take each guest on a journey of creative awakenings, celebrating all that is brilliant about being human.

  • Is immersive the same as a theme?

No, and it is the question we are asked most often. A theme is a look applied to a space: the right colours, the right flowers, a band who know the songs. It is done when the room is dressed.

Immersive means your guests are inside a story, and the story answers them back. They are given a part to play, the people they meet are in character, and what they choose to do changes what happens next. A theme is something you look at. An immersive world is something you are in.

    The ten immersive worlds

  • What immersive experiences do you offer?

We are a truly bespoke agency and can weave new narratives through any brief. The power of immersive design means that original storytelling can be brought to life in a physical capacity, but old and well-known stories are equally as popular.

You may be in love with the idea of an immersive Discovery experience based on Treasure Island, or The Hidden World of Atlantis. Immersive experiences let you bring these stories to life and we offer a way to do this.

Be inspired by our immersive worlds

  • I’m worried that I am not planning an immersive experience. Can I still submit a brief?

Yes. We would love to hear from you. At The Events Mill there is no set way of planning an experience. Each is completely unique with its own set of deliverables.

Our services are robust enough to accommodate every type of request and flexible enough to adapt to each situation at the drop of a hat. Should you have a dream you have always wanted to bring to life, or have no idea where to start, we are here to answer all your questions. After all, the most important thing is what matters to you.
