Sustainability at The Events Mill
Producing sustainable work is a priority for us. We recognise the crucial need to develop more sustainable practices, experiences and design, and we follow guiding principles to help us achieve that. We are an evolving practice and we apply rigorous procedures as we develop.

Our promise to you and to the world
We are not a perfectly sustainable business, and we are committed to doing all we can to make a difference in an industry which is notoriously known as a challenge in this regard. This page sets out what we have committed to and where we still have work to do.
Everything below is either something we are already doing or something we have written into our roadmap. If you are assessing us for a tender and you need more detail than this page carries, ask and we will send it.

How we are cutting our own emissions
As a company we are driving forward with our own journey to reduce our emissions. We have a sustainability roadmap that will see us take big strides in reducing our carbon footprint over the next few years.
We have begun to measure, track and reduce our emissions using a digital sustainability platform. As a team we are taking proactive approaches to reduce our waste and increase our recycling. And we are starting a programme that will help us identify the ESG credentials of our suppliers, so that we are working with the most environmentally and socially conscious partners.
Out of that work came five principles, which we as a business have committed ourselves to.
The five principles
What we have committed to

Waste, recycling and zero to landfill
We are working hard to tailor our event services to promote waste education and management. Maximising recycling, aiming for a zero waste to landfill approach, and reducing waste disposal costs at events are three ways we help clients make a difference.

A circular model for the life of an event
We are actively looking at how we can adapt the strategies set down in the idea of a circular economy to our business and to the lifecycle of an event. We are determined to help minimise environmental impact and resource use while improving waste management.
A great deal of what we build is made in our own workshop, which means we know what is in it and what happens to it afterwards.

Local produce and what we make ourselves
Investigating, engaging and using local, sustainable and compostable raw materials and venue suppliers can encourage a focus on reducing over-production and processing at events.
It matters most on the food. The Events Meal works with chefs who are already sourcing this way, and our floral department grows and makes a good deal of what goes on the table.
Experiences that work, and why that is a sustainability question
We still want to make our client experiences purposeful, stylish and memorable, with an environmental consciousness applied by everyone involved.
There is a practical reason the two go together. An experience that works is one that does not get cancelled, refunded or thrown away, and that is a real saving in material and in carbon. Work that succeeds also contributes to a wide range of economies, including the charitable sector, across many industries and many workforces.

Collaboration, and the network behind it
We believe that only by working together with clients, partners, suppliers and associates can we change the way an event business is organised, operated and run.
We are proud of our global network and of our continued efforts to work with people who share our commitment to improving sustainability practice. That network is also where the ESG programme starts, because the credentials we can evidence are the ones our suppliers hold.
I thoroughly enjoyed working with Christopher and his team, a supremely creative individual who also works extremely hard to deliver his wondrous visions. No impulse is left uncovered, no corner is left unloved. He has a unique ability to design such a vast range of things, from tiny points of detail to sweeping grand gestures, and all with such delight of sense and colour. What a joyful journey to go on!Anabel Fielding, CEO at Alite Global

Tell us what your procurement process needs and we will answer it properly. If there is a figure, a policy or a supplier standard you have to evidence, say so in the brief and we will give you what we actually hold.
